Baldur's Gate 3 Hotfix Smooths Mods, Honour Mode, and PS5 Quirks
Baldur's Gate 3 hotfix enhances mod support and multiplayer stability, fixing crashes and improving balance for a smoother gameplay experience.
Larian Studios has been treating Baldur's Gate 3 less like a released product and more like a long-running tabletop campaign that still gets regular house rules. The latest hotfix follows the big patch 7 rollout that introduced modding tools in September and later arrived on consoles on October 1. This particular update zeroes in on mod-related friction, multiplayer weirdness, balance leaks, and a handful of crashes that players had been bumping into. For anyone who has loaded a save with a dozen mods, the feeling can be as twitchy as a rogue checking every floor tile for pressure plates. This hotfix is meant to make that paranoia a little less necessary.

The biggest cluster of changes targets the mod experience. On PS5, the Continue button now behaves like the Load Game screen. If a save has unresolved mod issues, the game will not let players jump straight into trouble. That small change removes one of the most common ways players accidentally launched a save that was about to collapse like a house of cards in a gust. The Mod Verification Window also stopped pestering players with repeated re-download or uninstall prompts after they had already taken the action. Mod dependencies now load in the correct order after enabling or disabling certain mods, which means the load order is no longer like a row of dominoes with one piece turned sideways.
🛠️ Mod Manager gets a tune-up
The Mod Manager received a batch of interface and navigation fixes. The animated download bar is back after going missing in the Mod Verification Window. The horizontal scrollbar on the Mod Details page now sits vertically centered between its flanking arrows. On PC, a controller-related bug that blocked Mod Manager from opening has been fixed, and button prompts update correctly. Filter tags now appear in localised languages, with an English fallback if a translation fails. The mod browser scrollbar resets to the top when players move to the next or previous page. On PS5, the Mod Manager reports remaining memory accurately after uninstalling a mod, and a crash that could occur when changing pages has been resolved.
Multiplayer also got some attention. Clients in a multiplayer game were sometimes caught in an enable-disable loop in the Mod Verification Window when trying to disable a mod the host did not have. That loop has been untangled. The filter previously labelled Explicit Content has been renamed Mature Content, and the Mod Issues window is now called the Mod Verification Window, with a description that better explains what the window actually does.
⚔️ Gameplay and balance fixes
Beyond mods, the hotfix delivers a handful of meaningful gameplay corrections. Players with many mods installed should see improved loading times. That is a welcome change for anyone whose mod list has grown like ivy across an old wall. The update also closes a trade exploit involving pact weapons and wares. Previously, players could add items to wares even when those items could not become wares, such as pact weapons, by selecting them alongside a valid ware. Selling the wares would not remove the bound items from inventory, allowing some extra value to stay locked in the player's pocket. The hotfix removes that loophole.
Honour Mode features, including Legendary Actions, will no longer bleed into non-Honour Mode games after loading an Honour Mode save. That prevented balance rules from leaking between different runs, which had been causing some very confusing combat encounters. On PS5, the DualSense lightbar no longer updates its colour every frame when a new user logs in with a new controller. Wyll should also stop choosing negative greeting nodes when he actually likes the player, and character models no longer become offset in the Trade UI when switching between trade and barter using a controller.
💥 Crashes and stability
A few crash fixes round out the hotfix. Loading into a playthrough rather than a specific savegame within that playthrough no longer causes a crash. A savegame loading crash has been addressed as well. PS5 players also avoid a potential crash that occurred when the DualSense lightbar went, as the patch notes memorably put it, "full disco." That phrase may earn a chuckle, but the underlying issue was a genuine stability problem.
Overall, this hotfix feels like a digital Swiss Army knife: small on the surface, but packed with tools for very specific problems. It shows Larian is still paying attention to the fiddly edges of modding, multiplayer, and platform quirks. The Baldur's Gate 3 modding community continues to thrive, and updates like this keep those custom campaigns running with fewer interruptions.
